OS 2.1 Beta Seeded-Cut&Paste/Better GPS
Apple began seeding the OS 2.1 software update to (paid) registered iPhone developers earlier today. Though it will likely be a while before this release makes it to the general public, several points may be of particular interest - better GPS and cut and paste.
Andru Edwards from Gear Live reports “A few new things we are seeing in this version of the software is the addition of a bunch of Core Location features that track the direction you are heading, and the speed you are traveling. Looks like we might see a turn-by-turn GPS app after all on the iPhone 3G. ”
Gizmodo reported “Another bit which may or may not make it into 2.1 is copy/paste. We’re still both hopeful and skeptical, but supposedly in the new version of the WebKit framework exists commands for “plugins,” “copy,” “paste,” “cut,” and some others.”
More to come.
