The German blog Schimanke.com recently posted screenshots from the beta version of the iPhone 2.2 firmware which show that Apple will be adding delivery options for over-the-air downloads of additional media, including video and audio podcasts. iPhones on a cellular network will be limited to 10MB downloads, but wifi should support unlimited downloads. LONDON: Apple has become the second largest provider of smartphones with its iPhone outselling BlackBerry, say analysts.
Market data company Canalys has found that more than 39.9 million smartphones were shipped around the world in the July-September period, which represented a 28 per cent increase. Read more »

According to a post on Apple’s website, they have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software, effective immediately. The NDA was effectively prohibiting the exchange of ideas and information relating to development for the iPhone platform using the native SDK. Read more »
