Most websites and web pages will be compatible and work fine on the iPhone and other devices such as Blackberry. However, it’s still possible to make the web sites more presentable on an iPhone by giving more information to the phone about how the webpage should be displayed in the browser. Read more »

Last week a lot of revelations were made indicating that Apple had barred the Opera browser from the iPhone. Reports explained Apple blocked the browser company Opera from distributing a mobile version of its browser, Opera Mini, to iPhone users because it competes with Apple’s own Safari browser. It appeared to many Apple was again restricting useful applications from iPhone users—something it has been accused of doing in the past. Read more »

It’s true that most of the iPhone doesn’t make use of alternate fonts — the applications, UI elements and your data all render in Helvetica.
However, microsites viewed in MobileSafari will render using whatever font is specified in a page’s markup. If your project is iPhone specific you no longer need to specify multiple fonts - though it’s good practice to do so. But keep in mind MobileSafari is limited to the fonts installed on the iPhone.
